The firm Victor Mayer GmbH & Co. KG in Pforzheim celebrates the 150th birthday of the company founder. Today it is seen around the world as one of the last still existing jewellery firms that has been in constant family ownership. In this biography, Herbert Mohr-Mayer, Managing Director of the company for many years, pays tribute to his grandfather's life and works and traces the history of the House of Victor Mayer, an exeplary Pforzheim-based jewellery manufactory. Within this framework, as many references as possibls are made to other jewellery factories founded in Pforzheim at the end of the 19th century, which in many ways reveal a comparable development and similar structures. Accordingly, the book sees itself as a contribution to Pforzheim's industrial history.
